Man Utd transfer boost as they could offload flop Alexis Sanchez on loan to Roma after Inter nightmare

MANCHESTER UNITED flop Alexis Sanchez could be set to stay in Italy but with Roma rather than current loan side Inter Milan, according to reports.

The Chilean forward has failed to impress during his season-long loan at Inter and Old Trafford boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to try and offload the former Arsenal star.

Alexis Sanchez is set to leave Inter Milan but could be offered a Serie A lifeline by rivals Roma

Reports from Sky Sports via Goal, suggest Inter’s Serie A rivals Roma are lining up a move for the 31-year-old winger.

Roma were thought to have originally been interested in bringing Sanchez to the Italian capital last summer, before he agreed to join Inter.

Sanchez has managed just one goal in 15 appearances for Antonio Conte‘s Inter side and does not seem to have done enough to earn a permanent deal.

Roma are hopeful the good relationship they have developed with United, aided by agreeing a loan deal for defender Chris Smalling last summer, will help them get a deal over the line.

It looks likely to be a loan move to the Stadio Olimpico for Sanchez but United chiefs would prefer a permanent deal to offload his hefty £505,000 a week wages from their bill.

The former Barcelona ace has been keeping active during lockdown and even filmed himself taking part in a Rocky Balboa-inspired session.

Sanchez has returned to Italy after being granted permission by Inter to travel back to his native Chile for personal reasons, where he spent a couple of weeks isolating in the capital Santiago.

Before the secret trip to his homeland was uncovered, Sanchez had been rumoured to be spending his coronavirus lockdown with South African model Anna Modler after she was snapped cuddling his dogs.

The striker’s future is currently unclear after being linked with a surprise move to West Ham as well as a return to the Nou Camp but he could now be set for an extended spell in Italy, when football finally returns.
