MANCHESTER UNITED have lost one out-of-contract full-back but hope to replace Ashley Young with another in Thomas Meunier.

Set to become a free agent in June, the Paris Saint-Germain defender is reportedly a target for the Red Devils.

Meunier is wanted by a reported six teams

Le Parisien claim up to six major European teams are chasing Meunier, including two unnamed Premier League clubs aside from United.

Bayern Munich, Juventus and Inter Milan are also chasing the 28-year-old as they seek reinforcements in the summer.

A contract can be pre-agreed now with six months left to go on Meunier’s deal and Serie A title contenders Inter said to have already started discussions with his camp.

Yet the Italians are expected to imminently seal the capture of veteran Young from United, after scooping up Roma left-back Leonardo Spinazzola.

Despite the Red Devils losing their man in January, it is thought that Meunier will wait until the summer to leave PSG.

The French giants have given young Colin Dagba a chance on the right side of defence in the Belgian’s absence but Meunier remains first-choice – making 19 appearances so far this season.

United have a strong selection at full-back despite Young’s exit with Brandon Williams complementing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot.

The academy product has impressed lately but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pushed to keep his captain before handing over the armband to Harry Maguire.

A one-year contract extension was rebuffed as Young took the two-year offer on the table in Milan.

And he even stormed out of training in a bid to push through the exit that will be completed on Friday.

Solskjaer admitted: “To be fair, I think it was for Ashley, he’s 35 in the summer and if he gets a two-year contract somewhere I think it’s up to him to take that.

“We werent ready to offer that, he’s been a good servant, captain, won trophies, league cups, but we’ve got players coming through and when Ashley’s head and mindset was on so why not now.”
