Rennes' Demands
Rennes is reportedly seeking a fee of around £47 million if Manchester City proceeds with their interest in winger Jeremy Doku. The Premier League champions have set their sights on the 21-year-old as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez.
Alternative Option
Crystal Palace's Michael Olise was initially considered as an option, but an injury setback has made him unavailable for a significant period of time. As a result, Doku, who is also a Belgium teammate of Kevin De Bruyne, has emerged as a promising alternative for Pep Guardiola's side.
Rennes' Determination
Rennes is expected to put up a fight to keep Doku at the club, but they are aware of the player's desire for a move to the Etihad. The Telegraph previously reported that the Ligue 1 side is likely to demand a fee between £43 million and £52 million for the young winger.
Liverpool's Previous Interest
Prior to Manchester City's pursuit, Liverpool had expressed interest in signing Doku, with Jurgen Klopp eyeing him as a long-term replacement for Sadio Mane. The Reds had been keeping tabs on the winger, but they have yet to make a formal bid.
Man City in the Lead
With Liverpool's interest fading, Manchester City is now expected to win the race for Doku's signature. Pep Guardiola has already made two significant additions to his squad this summer, with Matteo Kovacic joining in a £30 million transfer from Chelsea and Josko Gvardiol becoming one of the most expensive defenders of all time in a £78 million move from RB Leipzig.
