Manchester United Denies Covering Up Star Antony’s Assault Allegations

Allegations and Denials

Manchester United has denied claims that it covered up assault allegations made by Antony's ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin. The £85 million winger has denied assaulting Cavallin and has expressed his confidence that ongoing police investigations will reveal the truth about his innocence. Both the Sao Paulo Civil Police and Greater Manchester Police are investigating the allegations.

No Cover-Up

Manchester United has strongly refuted any suggestion of a cover-up, describing it as "categorically false." The club has stated that it will cooperate with any police inquiries. The allegations involve accusations of physical aggression made by Cavallin against Antony on multiple occasions.

Claims and Reports

Cavallin claims to have dated Antony on and off for two years and states that they lived together in Amsterdam while he played for Ajax. According to a police report seen by ESPN, four alleged attacks are described, including one that reportedly took place at a hotel in Manchester on January 15. Cavallin alleges that a senior player support officer was dispatched to the hotel by Manchester United that night, but the club has confirmed that a private doctor was arranged to visit Cavallin at Antony's request.

Statements and Ongoing Investigations

Antony issued a statement on his Instagram profile, vehemently denying the accusations and expressing his willingness to cooperate with the Brazilian authorities. Manchester United acknowledged the allegations and stated that they are taking the matter seriously, considering the impact it may have on abuse survivors. The club has been advised to proceed cautiously, given the ongoing police investigations in both the UK and Brazil.
