Rashford turned and slotted home to give United a vital lead

In a tense encounter, United knew they needed a win in order to keep the pressure up on Leicester and Chelsea.

And Rashford couldn’t contain his excitement after getting on the scoresheet at a vital time.

The nation’s newest hero coolly slotted the ball home, spun away and yelled “f*** off!” while leaping through the air.

Man Utd would go on to double their lead thanks to in-form Anthony Martial with ten minutes to play, running out 2-0 winners.

But it wasn’t without its controversy, with Jordan Ayew’s would-be equaliser ruled out for offside by the barest of margins.

It was United’s SEVENTH goal conceded ultimately chalked off by VAR this season – easily the most in the Premier League.

After the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was quick to pile praise on Rashford and Martial – on-fire since the restart – as well as his team, who are delivering when it matters most.

Solskjaer told BT Sport: “Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are enjoying themselves.

“When they go out onto the pitch for a shift, they go out with a smile and they defend each other too.”

“The finish was great for Rashford’s goal but there was quick inter-changing passing in the build-up.

“We have done fantastic since the restart. These are the games that matter.

“That is the thing at Manchester United, you have to step up and show your personality.”

After the win, Rashford was quick to poke fun of Rio Ferdinand – who was as animated as ever after the first goal.

Ferdinand laughed and joked, “he sat him down” after Rashford skinned his defender with a quick piece of footwork.

On seeing the clip, Rashford hilariously tweeted him, saying: “You ok bro?”
