Marcus Rashford shares inspirational throwback pic of himself as young Man Utd kid with award

MANCHESTER UNITED star Marcus Rashford has posted a flashback snap from the start of his football journey.

The 22-year-old striker is a regular starter at Old Trafford and he has already been capped 38 times for England, scoring 10 goals.

But behind the talent is a hunger to succeed, as well as loving support from his mum Melanie who has appeared alongside her son on contract signings.

Rashford shared a photo of him receiving a football award aged 10 on Twitter.

Alongside the forward is his friend Travis Johnson who he describes as “an unbelievable talent.

Johnson unfortunately never progressed from the youth ranks at United.

Rashford captioned the photo: “Blessing the timeline with a little throwback this Thursday.”

Marcus Rashford has already come a long way in the game – but he is keen to help out those who are struggling outside of sport

Days ago Rashford took to Twitter to post a picture of his trophy collection to his supporters while in lockdown.

Alongside the image, he wrote: “Wanted to take a decent pic without the dogs getting involved.

“This was the best we could do…Happy Friday everyone!”

Behind Rash is a glimpse of his expanding trophy cabinet nestled under the stairs.

His United and England team-mate Harry Maguire rates the forward as the greatest talent he has ever played with – and a future leader destined for an “exceptional career”.

MAGUIRE’S HIGH PRAISE

The £85million ex-Leicester centre-back, 27, told United’s official podcast: “On the pitch, he’s amazed me. He’s the most talented player I’ve ever played with.

“I’ve always spoken so highly of Marcus when I have been with him in the England squad. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

Rashford has worked tirelessly during lockdown to help those less fortunate following the coronavirus pandemic.

The forward has helped a charity supply two million meals a week for vulnerable children.

Supermarkets such as Asda, Tesco and Co-Op have thrown their weight behind FareShareUK after the he advocated the project.

The New York Times recently charted Rashford’s rise to the top from the days when he himself received free school meals.

Rashford has also been getting in touch with fans during the pandemic, gifting tickets to NHS workers and responding to one young supporter who wrote of how much he was missing football.

Rashford, 22, had scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League games in his hottest season so far – until a double stress fracture in January.
