Mo Salah says secret behind red-hot Liverpool form is telling himself he’s best in the world as he looks to down Man Utd

MO SALAH says the secret to his dazzling form is telling himself he’s the best player in the world.

The Liverpool striker has struck 12 goals in his last 11 games and has been shortlisted for next month’s prestigious Ballon d’Or award.

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah tells himself he is the best player in the world

And ahead of today’s Prem showdown with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United at Old Trafford, Salah declared: “It’s always the ambition to be the best player in the world. I don’t have to lie.

“It’s something that drives me to work really hard and just try to be the best version of myself.

“In my head, I’m the best player all the time.

“I’m trying to have that confidence in my head. It doesn’t matter if some people agree with you, some people not.”

Kop boss Jurgen Klopp insists Salah is already the best player on the planet – ahead of Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and Salah added: “It sounds great to me, but it’s always opinion.

“I’m just happy about my performance at the moment, but I would always say it’s opinion.

“I can’t say I’m the best  in the world – some people agree, some not.”

Salah became the first Liverpool player to score in nine successive games with his double in Tuesday’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

The Egyptian, 29, has also scored three times in his last two visits to Old Trafford.

And he told Sky Sports: “When I first started to play in Egypt, I said: ‘I want to play in Europe, I want to have the best career from an Egyptian player.’

“Now, I want to do something really special.

“It’s always in my mind, I’m always trying to find something to drive me to achieve what I want.

“That’s how you achieve great things.

“I’m just trying my best to help the team to win games, to win trophies. I love the club.”

Salah wants to sign a new deal to tie him to Anfield for life.

His current contract has 20 months to run.

And the club’s American owners know they will have to pay him around £400,000 a week – making him Liverpool’s top earner and almost doubling Virgil Van Dijk’s £225k-a-week deal.

But while Salah wants a four-year contract, FSG are so far refusing to budge on their three-year offer.
