MONACO Completes £34m Signing of Folarin Balogun from Arsenal

A Unique Announcement

Monaco has officially signed Folarin Balogun from Arsenal in a record-breaking £34 million transfer deal. The 22-year-old striker has committed to a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 side. To announce Balogun's arrival, Monaco unveiled a NASCAR-inspired video on social media.

A NASCAR-Themed Video

Monaco's announcement video features a truck racing around the beautiful cliffs of Monaco, driven by a masked driver. The clip then shows the vehicle pulling into the club's training centre and performing a series of doughnuts. Balogun's name is revealed, and he is seen wearing a Monaco shirt alongside a helmet. Fans had mixed reactions to the unique video.

Successful Loan Spell and Departures

Last season, Balogun spent a successful loan spell at Reims, scoring an impressive 21 Ligue 1 goals in 37 appearances. Balogun's departure adds to the list of players leaving Arsenal this summer for less than the club had hoped for. Nottingham Forest is set to sign full-back Nuno Tavares on a season-long loan, while Albert Sambi Lokonga has failed to attract any concrete bids. Kieran Tierney has also been loaned out to Real Sociedad instead of being sold, and Nicolas Pepe and Cedric Soares are expected to have their remaining contracts paid off to free up the wage bill.

Total Raised Still Falls Short

Arsenal has raised a total of £65 million this summer from player sales, including the recent departures of Granit Xhaka, Pablo Mari, Auston Trusty, and Matt Turner. The club has also received sell-on fees from Dinos Mavropanos' move to West Ham and will receive another fee when Matteo Guendouzi completes his move to Lazio. However, the amount raised is still far from the £150 million target set to offset the £208 million spent on new signings, including Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and David Raya.
