, Mourinho jokes about Man Utds Bruno Fernandes transfer saga by asking if deal is done in Tottenham press conference

WITH Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to Manchester United having been the saga of the transfer window so far, even Spurs boss Jose Mourinho wants to know the latest.

The 56-year-old asked a reporter about the Sporting Lisbon man during his post-match press conference in the aftermath of Tottenham’s unconvincing 2-1 win over Norwich City last night.

Bruno Fernandes’ potential move to Man United has dominated this transfer window

With Sky Sports having deployed a reporter in Portugal to follow the latest goings on in the Fernandes saga, Mourinho wanted to be brought up to speed.

With his tongue in cheek, he asked: “How was Lisbon? good? Lisbon was good?

And when the reporter tried to ask about Spurs’ next fixture, Mourinho cut him off.

He asked: “So Bruno Fernandes come to United or no?

“So you go to Lisbon and he’s not coming? But coming or no?”

Goals from Dele Alli and Son Heung-min had fired Spurs to an edgy win over Norwich, with Mourinho facing a saga of his own in his attempts to sign a striker.

Vedat Muriqi, Willian Jose and Islam Slimani have all been linked with the Lilywhites in recent days.

But while Spurs were beating Norwich, Mourinho’s former club Manchester United were slumping to an embarrassing 2-0 defeat against Burnley at Old Trafford.

With many fans calling for the sacking of boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the signing of Fernandes could provide welcome optimism for Red Devils’ fans.

A transfer was thought to be close last week, with the 25-year-old playing what was expected to be his last game for the club against Benfica on Friday.

But the move has hit a snag over Sporting’s asking price, and Fernandes has since played again – featuring for 57 minutes against Braga.
