New Head of Medical Services Set to Join Manchester United

Gary O’Driscoll to Begin His Role on Monday

Manchester United is preparing to welcome Gary O’Driscoll as their new head of medical services, as he is set to start his role on Monday. The former Arsenal club doctor will be joining the Red Devils after spending 15 years in North London.

An Agreement Made Back in July

United secured O’Driscoll’s arrival back in July, after the Irishman almost joined Liverpool in 2020. The 53-year-old had previously served as the Gunners’ club doctor before becoming their head of medical in 2017. Additionally, O’Driscoll had a decade-long tenure as the doctor for the Irish national team prior to joining Arsenal.

Replacing an Interim Head of Medical Services

Before O’Driscoll’s arrival at Old Trafford, Jim Moxon had been serving as United’s interim head of medical services since the departure of Steve McNally in December of last year.

Fans Excited for O’Driscoll’s Impact

Amidst Manchester United's recent injury troubles, fans are optimistic about O’Driscoll’s arrival. Several key players, including Mason Mount and Luke Shaw, are currently sidelined due to injuries, while others, such as Rasmus Hojlund, have recently returned to fitness. The absence of defender Raphael Varane in the previous match before the international break has also left fans eagerly awaiting his return.

One supporter took to Twitter to express their hope, saying, "Fix Martial and Varane please." Another fan added, "Varane ready for the Bayern game then." A third supporter wrote, "Hope he likes a challenge." Meanwhile, another commented, "Let’s hope he can sort the mess out."
