Newcastle agree £35m Valentino Livramento deal to win transfer race… but Chelsea will receive huge sell-on clause

NEWCASTLE have agreed a £35million deal to sign Southampton right-back Tino Livramento, according to reports.

Chelsea and Arsenal had both been linked with a move for the 20-year-old English defender.

Newcastle have reportedly agreed a deal for Tino Livramento

But talkSPORT understand Eddie Howe’s side have won the race to secure his services as the Magpies prepare for the return of Champions League football.

Southampton had previously rejected a bid of £30m from Newcastle, but a £5m increase appears to have sealed the deal.

And while Chelsea will be disappointed they could not bring their former player back, it is not all doom and gloom.

The Blues had a sizeable sell-on clause written into his contract when he moved to Saints.

The exact amount is unknown, but it could be as much as 50 per cent.

That would see Chelsea earn £17.5m for his switch to the North East.

Southampton bought him from Chelsea two years ago for just £4m.

They were determined to keep hold of the England U21 international, but relegation down to the Championship means they are expected to sell players before the end of the window.
