Newcastle ready to splash £50MILLION on Moussa Diaby transfer but Leverkusen want £75m fee Chelsea paid them for Havertz

NEWCASTLE are lining up a £50million bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, according to reports.

The Toon splashed the cash in January as they signed a host of players to help them avoid relegation.

Diaby has been sensational for Leverkusen so far this season

Their £300million Saudi takeover saw an immediate influx of transfers at the first opportunity.

Kieran Trippier, Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn and Matt Targett all arrived to bolster Eddie Howe’s squad.

And it appears to have worked – with Newcastle unbeaten in eight Premier League games, winning five of them.

Now they are an impressive seven points clear of the relegation zone and will look to build on that momentum by bringing in more fresh faces in the summer.

According to The Mail, they have identified Leverkusen winger Diaby as someone they are keen to sign.

The 22-year-old has netted an impressive 15 goals in 31 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

He has also contributed a further nine assists and played an integral part in helping Leverkusen up to third in the table.

That form has seen the Magpies value him in the region of £50m.

However, the Germans reportedly want a fee rivalling the £75m they received from Chelsea for Kai Havertz.

That could prove a stumbling block when trying to get a deal done.

Newcastle are interested in strengthening their attacking options at the end of the season as Wood was the only forward player to join in January.

They are thought to be keen on Everton and England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

And recent reports are also linking them with MLS attacking midfielder Djordje Mihailovic.
