Newcastle ready to switch transfer attention to Burnley’s Dwight McNeil if Leeds refuse to budge over Jack Harrison

NEWCASTLE are lining up a move for Burnley’s Dwight McNeil — if Leeds stand firm on Jack Harrison.

Leeds have rejected a Newcastle bid for Harrison, 25, and want £35million for the winger.

McNeil is on Newcastle’s radar but is being tracked by a number of Prem clubs

Newcastle saw an approach for Harrison knocked back

He only signed for the Elland Road outfit for £10m last summer from Manchester City, but his dazzling displays have seen the Englishman’s stock more than treble over the past 12 months.

Harrison scored the club’s final goal as they scraped Premier League survival over Brentford last season.

Leeds‘ refusal to do business will be a huge blow to Toon boss Howe who’s desperate to add some firepower to his attack.

The uber-wealthy Saudi-owned side struggled for goals last season, and Howe wants to avoid a repeat scenario this time around.

A winger is a priority, so Toon are looking at McNeil, 22, as a more realistic option for around £15m but West Ham, Crystal Palace and Everton are also keen.

McNeil struggled last season, managing just one assist and NO goals in the Prem.

But it is thought his numbers will improve in a more attacking-based team.

Toon also want Harvey Barnes but Leicester are asking £50m.

Barnes’ return last term was significantly better than both wingers mentioned.

The Foxes ace managed six goals and ten assists in 32 Prem games.
