, Newcastle takeover latest: Amanda Staveley mobilises Toon army in bid to revive £300m Saudi deal

AMANDA STAVELEY is trying to mobilise the Toon Army to revive her failed takeover.

On Thursday, Staveley, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the Reuben brothers withdrew their £300million offer to buy out Mike Ashley.

Amanda Staveley has called for the Toony Army to put pressure on the Prem

Staveley – who blamed the Premier League for having to pull out – spoke with the Newcastle United Supporters Trust over the weekend, explaining how fans could help.

Pressure is mounting on Prem CEO Richard Masters to provide answers after the league kept silent throughout the 17 week takeover.

As of late last night, over 50,000 supporters had signed a petition calling PM Boris Johnson to probe the process that saw the bid collapse.

And Staveley has called on the Toon Army to come together to put pressure on the Prem.

Last night, the Trust said: “Alex Hurst Trust chair spoke to Amanda by phone, who reiterated how upset she and the other buyers were about the Premier League’s lack of decision and that Mike Ashley was still very keen to sell her consortium the club.

“Amanda has outlined that supporters have a role to play in making ourselves heard with the Premier League and also that we seek answers from them.”

“In terms of what we could do as a Trust and the wider fan base – answers from the Premier League are crucial at this point both for the fans and the consortium buying the club.

“United we stand a far greater chance of getting a resolution we desire. We must come together and we must come together now.

“That both Newcastle is committed to the sale and the buyers are committed to the sale suggests that anything is still possible.”
