Neymar and Gabriel Jesus slam Copa America chiefs as Man City star is banned from final showdown with Argentina

NEYMAR and Gabriel Jesus have lashed out at Copa America chiefs after the Manchester City star was banned from taking part in the final.

Jesus, 24, was slapped with a two-game ban and £3,600 fine after being shown a straight red during the 1-0 quarter-final win over Chile.

Neymar also reacted angrily to the decision to give Jesus a two-match ban

The Brazil striker was sent-off after a landing a sickening karate kick to the face of Eugenio Mena.

Immediately after the game, Jesus – who was also shown red during the 2019 Copa America final – apologised for his actions.

But he was hit with a two-game ban – missing the 2-0 semi-final win over Peru and now the final against arch-rivals Argentina.

And Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, 29, has hit out at CONMEBOL for the decision.

Neymar ranted: “It is very sad to be in the hands of people who make these kinds of decisions.”

He sarcastically continued: “They made a beautiful analysis of the play. We must congratulate them.”

Taking to Instagram, Jesus also reacted angrily, writing: “Two-match ban and no appeal?

“Congratulations CONMEBOL. I think you didn’t see what happened right.”

Following the game, a remorseful Jesus said: “Unfortunately I made a mistake in which the team could have suffered, but this group once again showed strength.

“I apologise to my team-mates and I will always continue to try to learn from my mistakes.

“I’m relieved to hear that Mena is fine and we’ve already talked about it.

“Nothing lasts forever, neither pains nor joys. Everything in life is learning. Everything in life surpasses itself.”

For Neymar though, he will look forward to the final against Argentina – after admitting he WANTS to face them in the final.

Before Argentina’s penalty shootout win over Colombia, Neymar roared: “I want Argentina, I am cheering them on.

“I have friends there and in the final Brazil will win.”
