Nottingham Forest Await Brazilian Wonderkid’s Decision as He Sets Sights on Title Before £15M Transfer

Matheus Nascimento, the 19-year-old Brazilian striker, has revealed his plans to stay with Botafogo instead of joining Nottingham Forest. Despite the Reds being willing to pay £15 million for his transfer, Nascimento's main goal is to win the title in his home country.

Race for Nascimento's Signature

Crystal Palace had also shown interest in Nascimento, but it appears that Nottingham Forest has emerged as the frontrunner in the battle for his signature. Steve Cooper's team even considered signing him immediately and loaning him out. Interestingly, Nascimento could have joined Olympiacos, another club owned by Forest's chief Evangelos Marinakis.

Rapid Rise in Career

Nascimento burst onto the scene at the age of 16 when he made his senior debut for Botafogo, becoming the youngest player in the club's history. Since then, he has made 72 appearances for the team, finding the back of the net six times. The talented youngster has also earned three caps for the Brazil Under-20 national team.

Ambitious Botafogo

Botafogo currently sits at the top of the Brazilian top flight and is 13 points clear of second-placed Palmeiras. With the team performing well, it seems Nascimento is determined to see the season through and help his club win the coveted title.

Nottingham Forest's Recent Form

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest has started their Premier League campaign on a positive note, securing three points from their first two matches. Their most recent victory came against Sheffield United, with Chris Wood scoring a last-minute header to seal a 2-1 win.
