Nuno Espirito Santo speaks out on ‘ruthless’ Spurs sacking and admits the last four months ‘didn’t go as planned’

NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO has spoken out on his ‘ruthless’ Tottenham sacking.

The Portuguese, 47, was given the boot last week after just four months at the helm.

Nuno Espirito Santo has spoken for the first time since he waswas sacked by Spurs

He was swiftly replaced by Antonio Conte following his side’s 3-0 home drubbing at the hands of Manchester United.

Taking to Instagram, Nuno wrote: “Wow, the last few weeks have been hectic to say the least.

“This is football, the most ruthless sport in the game, only a couple of weeks back I was crowned Manager of the Month and fast forward to the present and it’s been some days since my dismissal at Spurs.

“This is life, I move on forward now looking for my next challenge. I want to thank the fans of Spurs, when I joined this great club I envisaged a vision to bring trophies but all didn’t go to plan.

“That’s all really we live and learn, look forward to keeping all of you posted and thank you once again for your constant support.”

Nuno was dismissed by Wolves earlier this year after four years in charge at Molineux.

After initially being passed over for the Spurs job by Daniel Levy, the Lilywhites handed him an opportunity after Fabio Paratici’s appointment as managing director.

Things got off to a bright enough start, as three 1-0 wins in August were enough to earn him the Prem’s manager of the month award.

But results took a disastrous turn in September, when Tottenham were battered 3-0 by Crystal Palace and then Chelsea, before a calamitous 3-1 loss at Arsenal.

Victories over Aston Villa and Newcastle brought temporary respite, before 1-0 defeats at Vitesse and West Ham piled the pressure back on.

The defeat to a struggling Manchester United proved to be the final straw, as Nuno’s decisions were booed by the Spurs faithful, who also chanted ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’.

Paratici moved swiftly to sack Nuno and hire Conte – with the Italian winning his first game against Vitesse 3-2 before overseeing a 0-0 draw with Everton.

Spurs sit ninth in the Premier League table – six points off the top four.
