OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER now officially has a worse record than Jose Mourinho did at Manchester United.
Current Spurs boss Mourinho was sacked this time last year after picking up 26 points from 17 games.
Solskjaer has amassed just 25 in the same number of games as Mourinho was given after today’s 1-1 draw with Everton at Old Trafford.
After 17 games in charge, Mourinho had picked up seven wins, five draws and five defeats with a zero goal difference.
Solskjaer’s side, despite beating Spurs and Man City, have six wins, 7 draws and four defeats with a goal difference of plus six.
Curiously, though, there is another stat that shows Solskjaer is heading in the right direction.
Mourinho was sacked with his United side some 13 points off fourth spot.
Despite being worse on points, Solskjaer’s team sit just four points off the magical top four.
And there is the fact that the 1-1 draw with the Toffees was the 4,000th consecutive game in which they had an academy graduate in their squad.
That record dates all the way back to 1937.
And Mason Greenwood, 18, showed he is just the latest in a long line of potential greats for the club.
He came on in the second half to score a 77th-minute equaliser for the Reds – his eighth of the season after hitting two against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.
That cancelled out Victor Lindelof’s 36th-minute own goal.
And the truth is that Solskjaer should have ended this game with a better record than Mourinho after the same number of games.
Jesse Lingard – who recently opened up about the struggles in his private life – and Anthony Martial could have put United ahead early on.
As it is, United will have the chance to pick up more points in the Prem when they take on bottom-placed Watford on Sunday.
