Patrick Vieira insists Emery can get club through Arsenal crisis and says changing manager will not fix problems

PATRICK VIEIRA has told Arsenal fans to lay off Unai Emery and give him the chance to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Emery has been given until the new year to make changes after growing under increasing pressure at the Emirates after a run of form which has seen them win just one of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Patrick Vieira says Unai Emery must be given more time by Arsenal and their fans

Arsenal are without a victory in the Premier League since the first week in October and have now slipped down to sixth in the table.

They are now behind Sheffield United on goal difference and eight points off Manchester City who occupy fourth spot.

With their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season by finishing in the top four decreasing by the week, the Gunners fans have started to call for Emery to be sacked.

But club legend Vieira says now is not the time to make a rash decision, and urged the supporters to give the 48-year-old more time to deliver.

Vieira said:”It’s true Arsenal are going through a tough spell.

“But I haven’t watched all their matches, so I can’t talk about their game

“They have a coach who is qualified and who works well. When a club is having a difficult time, it’s important to be united.

“I think he has enough experience to get them through this difficult spell.

“We have to get behind him and give him time to change things.

“I am not sure a change of manager will fix the problems.”

Arsenal have an ideal opportunity to reverse their fortunes and string together a good run of results with their next three games against Southampton, Norwich and Brighton.
