Paul Pogba has ‘enthusiasm and dedication’ to make a huge Man Utd impact, insists Solskjaer

PAUL POGBA wants to finish his career with no regrets.

Which is why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the French World Cup-winner has a renewed enthusiasm to make his return to Manchester United work.

Solskjaer is backing Pogba to come good – praising him for his ‘professionalism’

Pogba’s four years back at Old Trafford as their most expensive ever signing at £89million has brought few returns.

In fact, the midfielder, who a year ago said he wanted out for a new challenge, has flopped.

A long period on the sidelines with an ankle injury put paid to that move but now he is back in the first team.

Pogba, 27, played well after coming off the bench to help earn a point at Tottenham in United’s first game after lockdown.

That then earned a starting place in the midweek 3-0 thumping of Sheffield United.

Boss Solskjaer said: “I don’t think you can ever question Paul’s professionalism. He is a very, very professional boy and he lives his life the right way.

“He wants to be the best he can be. He knows he’s a special talent and he doesn’t want to, in five or ten years’ time, look back and think ‘I didn’t make the most of it.’

“He is already a World Cup winner, he has won things with Juventus and us so I’m not surprised by his enthusiasm and dedication to us.

“We are looking to keep Paul here.”

One player who could head out the exit door at the end of this season is Jesse Lingard.
The England midfielder, 27, has fallen out of favour with Solskjaer but could get his chance to change the manager’s mind in the FA Cup quarter-final at Norwich.

Solskjaer is hoping Lingard can recapture the form that saw him score a spectacular winner in the final against Crystal Palace four years ago.

He added: “Jesse has always been a very fit boy and he’s working hard.

“He has had his challenges. Jesse knows what it takes to be a Man Utd player and has scored important goals.

“The FA Cup final, we remember that. Hopefully Jesse can take his chance and we see the best of him again.

“We know there is a top player there.”
