Pep Guardiola rules out Jadon Sancho return despite Man City flier Leroy Sane’s Bayern Munich transfer

PEP GUARDIOLA closed the door on a Manchester City return for Jadon Sancho this summer.

The England winger, 20, left for Borussia Dortmund three years ago after snubbing an Etihad contract.

Jadon Sancho is in demand but Man City are not among his suitors

He is desperate to return to England this summer — and City have the right to match any bid that is accepted by the Germans.

But Guardiola says it would make “no sense” for them to link up again with their former academy star after he left under a cloud.

It leaves the way clear for rivals Manchester United to seal a move, although they are reluctant to meet Dortmund’s huge £100million asking price.

Guardiola was asked whether he might consider a swoop for Sancho now that Leroy Sane’s switch to Bayern Munich is confirmed.

But the City boss said: “No. No, he decided to leave, why should he come back?

“Like Leroy Sane now or myself when I decided to move . . . it’s going to happen.

“So when he decided to move to Dortmund, it’s not that he’s going to come back. It would make no sense.

“If he wanted to leave then, I’d say he doesn’t want to come back.”

Guardiola is planning to make changes at City this summer, with David Silva joining Sane through the exit door. Ahead of tonight’s meeting with champions Liverpool, Guardiola said: “It’s part of the process.

“We’d like the players of the last ten years to be eternal. But we grow in years and we have to replace them.”

Guardiola wished former Schalke ace Sane well as he prepares to seal a £55m return to Germany before the end of the week.

He said: “We give him thanks for all the years here and wish him well for a new chapter with a fantastic club.

“He wants to leave, he has his own life and wanted to move on. I’d love him to stay here but he wanted to move.

“We can’t do anything else if guys don’t want to stay.”
