Phil Foden returns to Man City training ahead of Wolves clash after shame on England duty in Iceland

PHIL FODEN returned to training with his Manchester City team-mates for the first time since his England shame.

The 20-year-old was sent home by Gareth Southgate on Monday after he and Mason Greenwood broke coronavirus rules.

He arrived back in Manchester that evening and spent some time at home – but returned to the City Football Academy on Friday after being given the all clear.

It is believed the midfielder took part in a normal session with the rest of the first-team squad.

Across town at United, striker Greenwood has been told to train alone as a precaution and misses Saturday’s friendly with Aston Villa.

But City seem more sure Foden poses no risk to the rest of the squad as they begin preparations for their opener against Wolves on Monday week.

England chief Southgate is expected to omit both players from his next three internationals – a friendly with Wales on October 8 followed by Nations League clashes with Belgium and Denmark.

Meanwhile, Etihad chief Pep Guardiola is due back at training in the next few days following a period in quarantine due to his recent trip to Spain.

Defender Aymeric Laporte and attacker Riyad Mahrez are also currently absent having tested positive for Covid-19.
