Prem stars who refuse Covid jabs should find NEW JOB, says furious Burnley owner Alan Pace after Aston Villa KO

BURNLEY owner Alan Pace has told Prem stars who refuse Covid jabs to find a new job.

The American believes anti-vax footballers need to pay a price for their stance in the latest virus backlash.

Burnley owner Alan Pace says anti-vax footballers should find a new job

His comments come as Tottenham forward Son Heung-min revealed he is double-jabbed ‘to protect my fellow players’.

Burnley’s clash at Aston Villa became the latest Prem game to be postponed on Saturday — less than three hours before kick-off — after the home side reported more positive tests.

Pace was furious about the late call-off and is concerned at the numbers who are refusing even a single injection.

He said: “It worries me for a number of different reasons but these are personal choices for people.

“It can’t be, though, that you put everybody else at risk.

“If they choose not to get vaccinated, then they may have to choose a different career.

“Freedom to choose something different doesn’t mean you get the same rights and opportunities given to you if you choose to do something that’s not in the best interests of everyone else.”

Latest figures reveal just 68 per cent of top-flight players are double-jabbed and Prem chief Richard Masters has written to all 20 clubs, urging them to get stars vaccinated or risk the season not being completed.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists players are ‘morally’ obliged to get the jab, while sports minister Nigel Huddleston has urged them to do the ‘socially responsible’ thing.

‘I FELT I NEEDED IT’

And Spurs’ South Korean star Son revealed: “I’m vaccinated twice.

“I felt I needed it because I didn’t want to infect other players or other people if I had Covid.

“It doesn’t mean that if I get vaccinated I won’t get Covid but the percentages would be a bit lower so I don’t want to infect other people.

“The rules and the travelling — because I’m not only here, I travel to the national team — that is why it was the best option to have it.

“I have not regretted it and was happy to have my second vaccination.”

Now fans are starting to turn on anti-vax players.

Peter Baron was one of the hundreds of Burnley supporters who were on their way to Birmingham when the game was axed.

He said: “What really riles me is hearing about players who don’t intend to be vaccinated.

“I know about human rights but if I was working on a building site and was told I had to wear steel toe-capped boots, then I’d have to do it.

“Why can’t footballers be told by the Premier League and the clubs that they have to be vaccinated?”

Last week the EFL revealed 25 per cent of its players had no intention of being jabbed.

In October, the Premier League said 81 per cent of players had had at least one jab and 68 per cent were double vaccinated. They will release updated data this week, showing an increase in both figures.

But the English top- flight will still lag behind the rates of other major European leagues.

Six of the 10 Premier League fixtures this weekend have been postponed because of Covid.

But so far all top-flight matches have gone ahead in Italy, Spain and Germany, while France has been staging its FA Cup equivalent.
