Premier League star lined up by Inter Milan to replace Man Utd-bound keeper Andre Onana

INTER MILAN are set to swoop for Hugo Lloris as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Andre Onana, according to reports.

The Red Devils are on the cusp of sealing a deal for Onana, with the move set to be sewn up by the end of next week.

Hugo Lloris has been back in pre-season training with Tottenham

Inter have been anticipating their goalkeeper’s departure and weighing up potential replacements.

According to French paper L’Equipe, the Champions League finalists have been in talks with Tottenham captain Lloris for a number of weeks.

They add that conversations are set to accelerate in the coming days as Onana’s departure edges closer.

Lloris, 36, has one year remaining on his Spurs contract.

He reported back for pre-season training under Ange Postecoglou last week, but the club will listen to offers to let their long-term No1 leave.

The North Londoners signed Italian stopper Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli in a £16million deal.

Vicario, 26, is another that would have been on Inter’s radar.

Lloris has been weighing up his options in recent weeks, and is said to have two lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia on the table.

Tottenham signed Guglielmo Vicario last month

The former France World Cup-winning captain is also believed to have other options from around Europe to mull over.

At the end of last season, Lloris admitted that he could leave Spurs to pursue something new as he reaches the twilight of his career.

He told Nice–Matin: “We have reached an important moment, whether it be for the club or me.

“It’s the end of an era. I have a desire for something else. I will carefully study what is possible.

“However, I haven’t forgotten that I have a year left on my contract at Tottenham, and in football, it’s always hard to predict what will happen.

“The most important thing is I find a project where I thrive.”

In addition to Lloris, Inter have also shown an interest in Bayern Munich star Yann Sommer.

The Swiss ace joined Bayern in January to cover for injured No1 Manuel Neuer.

Following the German’s subsequent recovery, Sommer could look for a first-choice gig elsewhere.

United, meanwhile, want Onana to arrive in time to join their US pre-season tour later this month.

The Cameroonian’s Old Trafford arrival is set to signal the end of the road at United for long-term No1 David de Gea.

Spaniard De Gea officially left the Red Devils when his deal expired on June 30 – although United asked him not to sign for anyone else while they explored the goalkeeper market.

Having been left in the lurch, De Gea’s agent is now set to meet with Fenerbahce to discuss a free transfer.

While SunSport understand De Gea is also a target for Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi side Al-Nassr.
