Premier League team of the season so far revealed with Arsenal and Newcastle stars dominating starting XI

ARSENAL and Newcastle stars dominate our Premier League team of the season… so far.

Football’s favourite competition has treated fans to several stunning months ahead of the winter World Cup.

Arsenal stars like William Saliba make the Premier League team of the season… so far

Newcastle ace Miguel Almiron has made a real splash this term

And there have been plenty of twists and turns along the way, with some teams playing well above expectation.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have emerged as serious title contenders, leading defending champions Manchester City by five points.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are doing an incredible job under Eddie Howe to occupy third place.

Therefore, it’s no surprise the duo reign supreme in a Premier League XI, nailing down seven of the available 11 spots.

In goal, Toon goalie Nick Pope has been head and shoulders above the competition.

He boasts the joint-least amount of goals conceded, as well as the joint-most clean sheets, with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale.

But whereas the Gunners’ stopper has made 28 saves this term, Pope has stopped the ball an incredible 43 times.

Pope is joined in the backline by Newcastle teammates Kieran Trippier and Dan Burn.

The Premier League team of the season… so far

The two full-backs have been key to Howe’s style of play, winning crunching tackles all over the pitch while also bombing forward in support when required.

However, the two centre-back positions fall to Arsenal duo William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

They have been simply immense, scoring two goals each while helping Arsenal lose just once.

And when leading, the Gunners never look like conceding with this pair in the side.

As for midfield, a third Arsenal star makes it into the team.

Step forward Granit Xhaka, who has been relentless this season and already has three goals to his name.

He is joined in the heart of the side by Man City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who leads the assists chart this term with nine already.

Moving further forward, the right wing was arguably the hardest slot to fill, with Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron both in outstanding form.

An alternative Prem team of the season

But it’s the latter who gets the nod after scoring eight times this season – including seven in his last eight appearances.

As for the left, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli gets an honourable mention.

However, the position goes to Brighton star Leandro Trossard, who has seven goals and three assists so far.

The Belgian is shining under Roberto De Zerbi, having already been a key man for Graham Potter.

And Trossard could yet be reunited with the Englishman as Chelsea are reportedly preparing an offer in January.

Meanwhile, James Maddison is the side’s No10 after scoring seven goals and setting up four more at Leicester.

His form has been so good that Gareth Southgate even brought him in from the cold for England’s World Cup campaign.

But honourable mention has to go to Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, who has pulled the strings brilliantly this term.

Finally, in one of the easiest decisions ever, Man City striker Erling Haaland is the team’s striker.

The Norway ace has struck 18 goals in just 13 games following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

And the Premier League record of 34 goals in a season, held by Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, is in real danger of being broken.
