Punter refuses £95k cash out on Liverpool for Quadruple before late Man City comeback denied them Premier League title

MANCHESTER CITY’S dramatic title triumph cost a loyal Liverpool fan a £95,000 cash-out on a Quadruple accumulator bet.

With £367k at stake, Liverpudlian Tanya Hanley held firm on her £100 pre-season bet – but City’s late 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa took the crown by a point.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Jordan Henderson show their dejection after a 3-1 win over Wolves failed to stop Man City winning the title

The cash-out sum had been growing since Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and the the FA Cup – both times courtesy of nerve-shredding shootouts.

And with barely 15 minutes of the Prem season remaining, Tanya must must have thought the Reds would snatch another tense last-gasp triumph – ahead of the Champions League final next Saturday.

Villa were 2-0 up at the Etihad and Liverpool were level at 1-1 against Wolves at Anfield but piling on the pressure.

Victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men and anything less than a City win would have dethroned Pep Guardiola’s men.

Liverpool nicked their own late double for a 3-1 success – but in vain.

Betfair tweeted: “At 5:34pm on Sunday Tanya from Liverpool was looking at a £95,000 cash out offer from a £100 pre-season bet.

“She kept the faith only for Man City to pull off a stunning comeback at the Etihad.”

Tanya could have bagged £32,492 on her 3671-1 bet if she’d been ultra cautious and cashed out after Carabao Cup joy back in February.

That sum fluctuated – dropping to barely £5k last weekend when City beat Wolves 5-1.

And although Tanya’s proud stance cost her in the end, Liverpool fans might applaud her for putting it all on Reds.
