Real Madrid set to AXE 10 stars in summer cull including ex-Chelsea flop Eden Hazard and Man Utd transfer target Varane

REAL MADRID are reportedly set to axe TEN players this summer in a huge transfer cull.

And there is likely to be no shortage of interest in some of the stars, many who have commanded multi-million pound fees.

Eden Hazard has failed to impose himself at Real Madrid
Gareth Bale has spent this season on loan at Tottenham

According to Spanish newspaper AS, top of the lists is former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.

Big things were expected of the Belgian when Real Madrid when he became the club’s most expensive signing ever at £130million in 2019.

But the 30-year-old’s time at the Bernabeu has been blighted by injury and fitness concerns, he has played just 40 games in all competitions since joining.

Defender Raphael Varane, 28, could be following Hazard out the exit door.

His contract has a year to run and Los Blancos will want to recoup some money for the powerful centre-half.

Manchester United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with what would like be a £40m-plus transfer.

And the big names don’t end there. Gareth Bale, who also has another year left, will be flogged too. Whether any club can take on his £650,000-a-week wages is another matter entirely.

The 31-year-old has spent this season on loan at old club Tottenham.

Luka Jovic, Marco Asensio, Isco, Mariana Diaz and Borja Mayoral are all likely to be available to the highest bidder.

Dani Ceballos, who is currently on loan at Arsenal, might have stated a desire not to give up on his Real Madrid dreams, but is also likely to be available to move.

There could even be an emotional goodbye for club legend Marcelo.

AS reports that the 32-year Brazilian could ‘stop the progression of Miguel Gutierrez’ and he could be persuaded to move on.

The coronavirus pandemic has decimated Spanish football finances, but Real Madrid will feel slashing some big names out will help them through it.
