But before kick-off, visiting Salzburg fans will pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away aged 96 last week.

The Met Police have confirmed supporters will walk from Earls Court to Chelsea’s stadium in total silence.

They will then refrain from hanging RB Salzburg colours inside Stamford Bridge until the clubs themselves honour the Queen moments before kick-off.

The police tweeted: “For tonight’s fixture, @RedBullSalzburg supporters will be walking in silence from Earls Court as a sign of respect to the Queen.

“They will then cover their club colours inside the stadium during the clubs’ tributes to Her Majesty.”

And Chelsea supporters, as well as the British public, are sure to be deeply grateful to travelling Salzburg fans for their show of support at a national time of mourning.

Some thanked their opponents on Twitter, with one saying: “Class. Immense respect.”

Another beamed: “Thank you, that speaks volumes about the players and the clubs.”

One added: “That’s class. Others should take note.”

BLUES EYE SALZBURG CHIEF

Relations between Chelsea and Salzburg could yet grow even stronger – this time behind the scenes.

That’s because Todd Boehly is reportedly targeting their top recruitment chief Christoph Freund as director of football.

Freund has been responsible for bringing through multiple gems since 2015, including Naby Keita, Dayot Upamecano and Erling Haaland.

Meanwhile, Salzburg boss Matthias Jaissle admits he was left saddened by pal Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea sacking earlier this month.

He said: “After the draw I was thinking that we would meet Thomas Tuchel.
