Roy Keane Allegedly Headbutted by Fan After Criticizing Players’ Friendliness

Keane Expresses Disgust at Friendly Greetings

Roy Keane, former Manchester United midfielder and current Sky Sports pundit, voiced his outrage at the friendly interactions between players from Arsenal and Man Utd before he was allegedly headbutted by a fan. Keane criticized the casual greetings, stating that players shouldn't be chatting with their opponents before going into battle. He emphasized that the game of football may have changed, but the players have changed even more. The incident occurred at The Emirates stadium before Arsenal's 3-1 victory against Man Utd.

Alleged Assault Caught on Camera

A video circulating on Twitter shows fellow pundit Micah Richards intervening and pinning the fan against a wall after the alleged assault on Keane. The suspect was accused of attempting a headbutt but instead struck Keane on the chest and chin. Richards, who was wearing a black backpack, acted swiftly to prevent further physical harm.

Drama Unfolds at the Emirates

The incident took place as Keane and Richards were waiting for a lift at the members-only Highbury Bar. They were making their way pitchside to provide post-match analysis for Sky Sports. After Alejandro Garnacho's late goal, which was later disallowed by VAR, the pundits hurried back to the studio. Eventually, they were escorted down to the pitch to continue their broadcast alongside Theo Walcott and presenter Dave Jones.

Police Investigation Underway

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are investigating the alleged assault but have made no arrests thus far. Sky Sports released a statement acknowledging the incident and stressing that Richards was defusing the situation. The off-pitch drama marred an intense match filled with VAR controversy.
