ROY KEANE snapped at Gary Neville after his former Manchester United team-mate hailed Sir Alex Ferguson’s handling of big players.
The Scot was renowned for his managing of big egos during his 26-year-old reign at Old Trafford, with the Fergie hairdryer being a tale of infamy.

Neville attributed Ferguson’s control of the dressing to his ‘success’ on the pitch, but Keane – who fell out with his former gaffer in 2005 – interjected: “Yeah, but Gary, it doesn’t mean to say he didn’t make mistakes.”
“I didn’t say he didn’t,” responded Neville.
A fired-up Keane – who left United after his bust-up with Fergie – replied: “I know you didn’t but I just wanted to make that clear.
“Everyone talks about ex-managers, saying, ‘they had power and control’ as if they never made mistakes.
“They made wrong decisions as well.”
Keane’s back and forth with Neville was sparked off by a debate over Cristiano Ronaldo‘s return to Portugal last week when he was nursing a hip injury.
The Irishman said: “That’s the challenge, what he’s doing on the pitch, what he’s doing away from the pitch, [the] incident last week where he went away.
“If he did do that last week, he’s out of order, put a marker down and say that’s unacceptable.
“I’ve heard one or two players have done that in the past, the culture of the club that’s unacceptable.
“But you have to manage the player and say when he’s fit and available.
“He has to play for Manchester United because they need results and that top four, they need to look at the bigger picture.
“The manager there is probably thinking about getting the next few months over.
“Get in the top four, win against Atletico, see what happens from there and not get bogged down with the bigger picture.
“Just get over the line in some of these matches because Ronaldo won’t change, he’ll challenge but that’s what big players do.
“You have to stroke their egos but you also have to tell them who the manager is, but when you’re only in there for a few months that’s difficult.
“Easy for us to say here, but big players and when your contract’s only a few months, big players will take advantage of that.”
Manchester United will be back in action on Tuesday night, welcoming Spanish giants Atletico Madrid to Old Trafford for the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie.
