Roy Keane tells Arsenal they should be ‘delighted with a point’ at Anfield… despite going 2-0 up vs Liverpool

ARSENAL should be glad they managed a point at Anfield against Liverpool… despite going 2-0 up.

That is according to Manchester United legend Roy Keane, who claims the Gunners should be “delighted” as they didn’t crumble under the stadium’s “energy”.

Arsenal dropped points against Liverpool despite going 2-0 up

The North Londoners’ Premier League title hopes were dealt a blow when Roberto Firmino’s last-gasp equaliser saved a point for the hosts in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Keane told Sky Sports: “I don’t like saying it too much, I’m for Manchester United.

“There’s something bizarre when you’re defending and last 15-20 minutes, you’re hanging in there and Liverpool are playing to the Kop.

“It’s extremely difficult, the energy of the stadium. The history of the club. It’s very difficult.

“I think Arsenal should be delighted with a point. [Manchester] City are back in control, but it’s a great point.

“They were 2-0 up and comfortable, but you have to be grateful for what you get out of the place.”

Arsenal enjoyed a stunning first half with Gabriel Martinelli opening the scoring after just eight minutes.

Gabriel Jesus doubled the visitors’ lead only 20 minutes later but Liverpool wouldn’t be denied.

Mohamed Salah hit back three minutes before half-time and had the chance to equalise from the penalty spot in the 54th minute but sent the ball wide.

But Firmino saved Salah’s blushes three minutes before full-time with a clinical equaliser.

Arsenal are now six points ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand and host their title rivals at the Etihad on April 26.
