Sadio Mane ‘reaches breakthrough in Bayern Munich transfer talks with Liverpool star available for a bargain’

SADIO MANE has allegedly “reached a breakthrough” in talks with Bayern Munich over a stunning transfer move from Liverpool.

The Senegal star, 30, is currently preparing for the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday.

Sadio Mane’s future is far from certain

That comes just days after the Reds missed out on the Premier League title to Manchester City.

But ahead of the upcoming showpiece, speculation continues to mount that Mane could be departing Anfield for the Bundesliga.

And now Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg claims that progress has been made in negotiations between the forward and Bayern Munich over a potential deal.

Both the German side’s chief Hasan Salihamidzic and boss Julian Nagelsmann are preparing to lose Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona and want a “statement” signing to replace the Polish striker.

Mbappe was ‘in talks’ with Liverpool, Mane reaches Bayern ‘breakthrough’

EURO KINGS

Get Liverpool at 30/1, or Real Madrid at 40/1 to win the Champions League title

They are both keen to get Mane – whose contract expires at Liverpool next summer.

Plettenberg claims that the next month is now set to be a crucial period for Bayern and their attempt to land the former Southampton man.

He tweeted: “He can really imagine to join #FCBayern this summer! There is movement in talks with the player and his management.

“Next 3-4 weeks are decisive. Nagelsmann & Brazzo want him. Transfer fee probably less than €50m.”

Should Bayern be able to get Mane for less than €50m (£42m) it’d be considered a bargain for a player who has been among the most lethal strikers in Europe in recent years.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to hold on to Mane, who has 120 goals in 268 matches for the Reds, and tie him down to an extension.

Especially as fellow forward Mo Salah has still yet to agree a new deal amid uncertainty over the Egyptian ace’s future.

And Brazilian star Roberto Firmino is also due to become a free agent in the summer of 2023.
