Sergio Romero set to end Man Utd hell with David Beckham’s Inter Miami launching transfer talks over 2021 move

SERGIO ROMERO looks set to end his Manchester United nightmare with the goalkeeper reportedly in talks with Inter Miami.

The Argentine, 33, wanted to force through an exit in the summer when Dean Henderson came back to Old Trafford and bumped him down to third choice.

Sergio Romero is a transfer target for Inter Miami ahead of the 2021 MLS season

Now The Athletic state David Beckham’s MLS side are exploring the option of landing the stopper.

The new season is planning to start on schedule in early March as things stand.

However, salary caps in the American league could cause problems.

Romero is thought to be on around £100,000 per week and that may be too much for Inter Miami to stump up.

The report adds that an unnamed Spanish club want to take the World Cup runner-up on loan for the remainder of the season.

Romero’s Manchester United contract expires in six months – although the club do have the option to extend his deal by a further year.

However, his time at Old Trafford looks set to come to an end and he is desperate to leave.

He has not featured for United since the Europa League quarter-final win over Copenhagen in August.

Romero, who joined the club from Sampdoria in 2015, hoped to leave in the summer transfer window after being left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squads for the 2020-21 season.

A loan deal to Everton was on the cards with the Goodison Park club willing to pay a £2million fee and cover his wages.

But United refused the switch because they did not want to strengthen a direct rival.

That led to his wife Eliana slamming the Red Devils for showing her man a lack of respect.

Despite the public spat, Solskjaer confirmed Romero is fully fit and training well with his team-mates.
