Seven players that could leave Arsenal in January to revive careers including Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe

MIKEL ARTETA faces a potential mass exodus of Arsenal players in January.

The Gunners spent over £150million in the summer, and could look to free up some funds by parting ways with a number of players in the New Year.

Aubameyang and Lacazette could both decide to leave in January

That would pave the way to bring in more reinforcements to help Arteta and Co in their bid to secure a Champions League spot.

Here SunSport takes a look at seven players who could try and force a way out out of Arsenal in January.

Pierre Emerick-Aubamayang

Aubameyang has been STRIPPED of the Arsenal captaincy after missing the weekend’s clash with Southampton due to a disciplinary issue.

It’s the third time he’s been reprimanded this year after arriving late for a game against Tottenham in March and a possible Covid-19 rule breach in February.

And with just 18 months left on his contract the Gunners could look to move on the problem striker as soon as possible in order to maximise their profits.

Alexandre Lacazette

Lacazette is out-of-contract in the summer, but could be sold for a cut-price fee in January.

Both Newcastle and Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move for the forward, who has enjoyed a surprise return to the starting line-up in the Gunners’ last two games.

Signing a new deal remains unlikely though, so Arsenal could decide to cash in as soon as possible.

Nicolas Pepe

The £72million signing from Lille has never hit top gear at the Emirates since arriving in 2019.

Pepe has started just five times in the Premier League this campaign.

He’s fallen well behind Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka in the pecking order, with club chiefs prepared to sell the club record signing for a huge loss.

Pepe is yet to reach the heights at Arsenal expected of him after signing

Eddie Nketiah

Nketiah has rejected the offer of a new Arsenal deal, and seems destined to leave the club in the near future.

Like Lacazette, Nketiah’s contract runs out in the summer, but he could be sold in a cut-price deal in January.

Borussia Moenchengladbach, Nice and Crystal Palace are monitoring his situation.

Nketiah could try and force through a move in January

Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Maitland-Niles publicly declared on social media in the summer that he wanted to be somewhere that he was going to play.

A move to Everton failed to materialise, but he remains largely an onlooker at the Emirates.

Therefore he may once again try and push for a move when the transfer window opens in the New Year.

After almost leaving in the summer, Maitland-Niles could seek pastures new in January

Rob Holding

Holding is firmly out-of-favour after Arsenal secured the signing of Ben White in the summer.

White and Gabriel are building a strong partnership at the back, so Holding could well look for a move to revive his faltering career.

Newcastle registered an interest in the summer, and could come back in for the 26-year-old with their pockets lined following the Saudi-led takeover in October.

Holding and Mari could both look to revive their careers elsewhere

Pablo Mari

Mari has already been linked with a January transfer and seems likely to leave the club.

The defender, like Holding, can’t break into the first team ahead of White and Gabriel.

And Mari’s former club Flamengo have been linked with a potential loan move in the New Year.
