IT took 30 years, but Liverpool are finally champions of England once more.
Jurgen Klopp took over from Brendan Rodgers in the autumn of 2015 and led the club back to the top of European finals.
Back-to-back Champions League finals – including the 2019 win over Tottenham – and now the Premier League crown…
Things are only getting better and better for the Reds.
But with Manchester City looking to bounce back from a horror season, Manchester United looking stronger and Chelsea signing some of Europe’s top talent, Klopp knows his squad needs to work to go again.
The Reds have already parted ways with Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren in recent days, with both signing from Southampton in the summer of 2014.
And there could be something of a mass sale at Anfield as Klopp looks to raise funds for a summer overhaul.
Liverpool have been keeping tabs on star names such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz.
They were also linked with Timo Werner before his move to Chelsea, with the proposed transfer falling apart as Klopp was unwilling to pay over £50million for the German.
With more than a few sales on the horizon, Klopp will hope to reinvest any money raised this summer.
We take a look at seven players who could quit the Kop this summer…
DIVOCK ORIGI
THE Belgian striker has become something of a cult icon at Liverpool.
Origi has scored some massive goals during his time at Anfield, including the second in last year’s Champions League win and the late winner against Everton in the Merseyside derby earlier that season.
But, in truth, he’s not at the level to compete with the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Origi is a regular starter when Klopp opts to rotate his front three.
But if the Reds are to compete across all competitions next season, theyw ill need a more talented back-up striker.
XHERDAN SHAQIRI
THE Swiss star looked like the bargain of the season when he joined from Stoke in a £13.5m move in 2018.
But in 2019-20, Shaqiri was barely even a fringe player, turning out just seven times.
Shaqiri missed plenty of time with a series of mysterious injuries and was later left to warm the bench by Klopp.
LORIS KARIUS
ONE Liverpool fans WON’T be too concerned about losing…
Karius endured a horror spell at Liverpool, epitomised by his TWO howlers in the 2018 Champions League final loss against Real Madrid.
The German was sent on a two-year loan to Besiktas and largely impressed, before terminating his contract in May over unpaid wages.
With Alisson between the sticks, Karius has no future at Liverpool.
It’s likely youngsters Kamil Grabara and Caoimhin Kelleher will be the Brazilian’s understudies next season, along with Adrian.
HARRY WILSON
THE Liverpool winger endured a tough season with Bournemouth, as he tasted relegation on the south coast.
But it’s unlikely he will return to Anfield for long and is likely to be loaned out, or more likely, sold this summer.
With Salah the starting star in his position – and youngster Harvey Elliott his highly-talented back-up – Wilson is unlikely to force his way into Klopp’s plans.
The Welsh star may decide a move away for more first-team football is the perfect thing to take the next step in his career.
SHEYI OJO
NOW aged 23, Ojo is in the midst of his FIFTH loan spell away from Liverpool.
Ojo has been shipped out to Wigan, Wolves, Fulham, Reims and Rangers – playing under Steven Gerrard in Scotland.
No longer a true “youngster” Ojo, like Wilson, faces the problem of being stuck behind Salah and Elliott at right-wing in the Liverpool team.
A permanent move away might be the best option for Ojo this summer.
BEN WOODBURN
THE forward burst on to the scene with Liverpool and Wales in 2016-17 as a teenager.
But now aged 20, Woodburn’s career has stalled somewhat on loan at League One side Oxford.
The ten-cap Wales ace has played just 14 times this season due to injuries – and is unlikely to make the leap to the Premier League, let alone with the champions.
Woodburn may be best served being loaned to a Championship side side next season – but he could be let go for good, with youngsters like Elliott and Curtis Jones impressing.
YASSER LAROUCI
ASIDE from superstar Andrew Robertson, Liverpool are perilously short at left-back.
James Milner is often deployed as the Scot’s understudy, but Algerian youngster Larouci, 19, enjoyed two FA Cup games in 2019-20.
Liverpool are unlikely to want to sell a left-sided defenders – at least, until they’ve bought a new one, with Klopp said to be chasing a left-footed centre-back who is equally adept at left-back.
But Larouci is wanted by Premier League new-boys Leeds, as well as Championship challengers Brentford this summer.
