‘Shocked’ Peter Schmeichel Lost for Words at Man Utd’s Defeat to Arsenal as He Slams Onana’s Role in Rice Goal

Peter Schmeichel Stunned by Man Utd's Loss to Arsenal

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has expressed his shock and disappointment following the Red Devils' 3-1 defeat against Arsenal. The Danish legend was brutally honest as he admitted to having "no words" for United's performance and criticized Andre Onana for his role in the late goals scored by Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.

Schmeichel's Reaction to Man Utd's Defeat

During a dramatic match at the Emirates, Erik ten Hag's team left empty-handed as Arsenal claimed all three points. Marcus Rashford gave United the lead, but two minutes later, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard equalized. In stoppage time, Rice and Jesus found the back of the net, securing a vital win for the Gunners.

The Criticism of Rice's Goal

Schmeichel, 59, did not hold back in his assessment of Declan Rice's goal. He stated, "I've got no words… I'm shocked. It's a terrible way to lose a game. United defended so badly for the corner at the end. Declan Rice had so much time, and the goalkeeper should have saved it."

Onana's Missed Opportunity

Although United's summer signing Andre Onana managed to get a strong hand on Rice's shot, he failed to prevent the ball from finding the back of the net.

United's Premier League Standing

Following this defeat, United currently find themselves in 11th place on the Premier League table. They have won two games and suffered two defeats in their opening four matches of the season.

Upcoming Match for Ten Hag's Squad

Ten Hag's squad will next face Brighton at Old Trafford on September 16th.
