Simon Jordan reveals shock cancer diagnosis as ex-Crystal Palace owner opens up about ‘significant surgery’

SIMON JORDAN has opened up on his secret battle with cancer.

The former Crystal Palace owner spoke publicly for the first time about his ordeal as he admitted to having “significant surgery” less than a month ago.

Jordan, 55, made the revelation on his health scare during an appearance on talkSPORT with Jim White.

He said: “I’m recovering from cancer, I’ve had some quite significant surgery, two weeks ago for prostate cancer.

“As you can see I’m able to come in today but it will take some time to recover.

“The reason I bring it up is that I think it is an important message.

“If I hadn’t have had surgery, I wouldn’t be here. There’s a real issue of this about awareness. If you don’t address it with a simple test, one in eight white men and one in four men get prostate cancer.

“I wanted to impart the important message to get tested. I’ve sitting here with six holes in my stomach, peeing a bit of blood but I am here.”

Jordan also said that he will still be undergoing tests in the future.

He added: “What would you rather die of, embarrassment? There’s lots of people who have had this sort of situation. It is something men shouldn’t ignore.

“Men do need to pay attention and I didn’t enjoy the surgery but I had a top, top surgeon. I have to recover for a bit and have a number of tests going forward.”

Prostate cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in men with more than 52,000 being diagnosed every year on average.

Jordan became the owner of Crystal Palace in 2000 and remained at the club for a decade.

In doing so he became the youngest chairman and owner of a Premier League club at the time as he was just 33.

In 2012 he admitted that he lost £40million on his venture with the Eagles after he left the club two years earlier.

Jordan had a daughter with his ex Suzi Walker in 2008 and later had a son with current partner Michelle Dewberry in 2020.
