Solskjaer praises mind-blowing Anthony Martial as Man Utd striker nets for third time in a week

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER hailed Anthony Martials mind-blowing brilliance as he scored his third goal in a week.

Martials superb effort yesterday saw him produce a clever pull-back and turn before chipping past Ben Foster.

Solskjaer is one of Martial’s ‘biggest critics’

It delighted Solskjaer, who wants even more from his French striker, 24.

The Manchester United boss said: I am delighted for the week he has had.

Hes come up with a No9s goal at Chelsea, he did everything to get the goal against Brugge and today is more than the Anthony we know about.

The skill is just mind-blowing but I want more from him.

Anthony has got his critics and I am one of the biggest because I am demanding different stuff from him and we will keep at him.

Martials display was only topped by that of new signing Bruno Fernandes, who opened his account from the spot and assisted in the other goals by Martial and Mason Greenwood.

Bought for an initial 46.6million rising to 55m, Solskjaer believes Fernandes, 25, is already proving to be a bargain.

He said: In todays market I think we got a good deal. Hes given everyone a boost. The fans are used to players with that personality, mentality and quality.

From day one he has felt like a presence in the group.

He is a bit of a mix between Paul Scholes and Juan Veron – the temperament of Veron and a lot of the quality of Scholesy. We have needed that.

United made a nervous start and gifted Watford a great chance when Nemanja Matic and Harry Maguire collided.

Solskjaer said: The start was a shambles. That chance after two minutes, that would have been two calamity goals after the one against Brugge.

But the more the game went on, we got fitter, stronger.

Watford stay in the drop zone and boss Nigel Pearson said: It was a frustrating day we did not take the chance we had early in the game.

We need to send the same message, that we have to be responsible for our own future.
