, Solskjaer reveals Man Utd stars werent working hard enough when he took over from Mourinho but are now on right track

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER is confident he has reversed a trend of Manchester United players not “putting a shift in”.

The Red Devils host Everton on Sunday looking to make it four wins in a row after impressive triumphs over Tottenham and Manchester City.

Solskjaer is enjoying an upturn in results at Old Trafford

For manager Solskjaer, he feels players are no longer shirking responsibility and looking for excuses as he indicates they did under Jose Mourinho.

He told reporters: “[Change] is a gradual thing but you see every single day now that these players dont need an operation.

“Sometimes they need some medicine but we are on the right track and if you dont pull your weight or put a shift in, youre the odd man out in training.

“It didnt always used to be like that, I have to say.”

With predecessor Mourinho unable to rejuvenate the glum atmosphere around the club despite winning a couple of trophies, Solskjaer is intent on getting United back to being a”family”.

Since taking over, he has spoken multiple times about the culture around the team and now believes he is reaping the results of his changes.

The Norwegian named former stars Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Dimitar Berbatov and Roy Keane as among those feeling comfortable enough to pay a visit to Carrington.

He continued: “Id been in once since I left [as a player] and didnt feel I could go in.

“Its about being part of the family when you work for us. It doesnt matter if youre Kath on reception, Mike behind the cooking plates, or Alec doing the kit, we as coaches, or the players.

“We are one team, thats always been United. Now Im getting more confirmation of that by ex-players coming back who have not been here for many years.”

United can move into the top five with a point at home to Everton on Sunday, the game kicking off at 2pm.
