Old Trafford chief Ed Woodward insists the club are right behind the Norwegians re-building plans.

That not only means there will be funds for new midfield targets like Aston Villas Jack Grealish, James Maddison of Leicester and Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

But United are also in the market for Borussia Dortmunds 100million-rated winger Jadon Sancho.

Woodwards statement to the clubs investors yesterday also effectively ends any thoughts Mauricio Pochettino or Max Allegri may have had of replacing Solskjaer this summer.

Instead, on the back of a new global partnership with Cadbury owners Mondelez, executive vice-chairman Woodward is still sweet on Solskjaers plans to create success.

He said: We are pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League, the Europa League and the FA Cup as we enter the final third of the season.

We have continued to make progress on our squad rebuild, with many changes in terms of players we have brought in and players that have come through our academy.

The foundation for delivering the long-term success that we are all working towards is in place as we implement our plan and our footballing vision with Ole.

Solskjaers spending since last summer is now over 210m having brought in Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James before the arrival of Bruno Fernandes and loan signing Odion Ighalo.

The Red Devils go into the weekend clash with Everton lying fifth in the Prem, three points behind Chelsea.

They face Club Brugge tomorrow looking to make further progress in the Europa League after a 1-1 draw in Belgium last week.

Woodward even hinted Solskjaer may even be ahead of schedule in his first full season in charge and is backing him to the hilt.

During the clubs conference call to shareholders following results of the second-quarter accounts he added: This season is one of re-build.

But the signing of Fernandes proves we will continue to implement Oles plan. We want to continue to bring in experienced, world-class recruits with the same planned discipline.

While we still have much to do, we are progressing with confidence in the right direction.

Uniteds figures did show a drop in matchday revenues year on year.

No Champions League football this season means broadcasting income is down by 39m.

Fans who continue to call for owners the Glazers to go will believe they have more ammunition with net debt, as of December 31, at 391.3m, an increase of 73.6m over the year.

But Woodward is bullish about the future.

United say they are not surprised by the decline in broadcasting cash and reiterate they expect income for the full year to hit up to 580m.

The club also had good news for investors with sponsorship for the period at 45.1m, an increase of 4.8m.

Woodward stressed Uniteds massive global pull and said: We are at the point of being unique in the world for what we offer.

We continue to be bullish with regards to the sponsorship business.
