Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both scored hat-tricks as the Foxes were three goals up within 20 minutes and five up at half-time.

Ryan Bertrand was sent off after just ten minutes, but the Austrian said that was no excuse for his side’s humiliating collapse.

He told Sky Sports: “It would be easy to say the red card after 10 minutes was to blame but I think its not normal to discuss every goal and every high of the result.

“I take 100 per cent responsibility for this result today and it was no performance from my team this cannot happen in this way.

“The performance was a disaster today and I have to apologies and take 100 per cent responsibility I’ve never seen a team act like this, there was no fight for anything.

Nathan Redmond described the game as the ‘stuff of nightmares’

“It was horrible to watch and everyone who stayed to watch is really a fan of this football club. Leicester were in every part of the game better than us.

“Im a proud man but the way we play today is not the way I want to see my team play. We must get our heads up and that is my job in the next few days.

“I said we must play to the last minute but I can understand why the fans that left. We all must to do everything to pull this back.”

Nathan Redmond added: “It was an embarrassing performance, the stuff of nightmares and especially playing at home.

“It just wasn’t good enough and one of the poorest performances since I’ve been at the club and well have to debrief that whole game from start to finish tomorrow.

“There were a host of things that went wrong – the red card decision and then the quick goal at the same time. We conceded goals far too quickly in the first half.

“We need to do much, much better. I think we had a few players out of position after the sending off and we tried to deal with it as best we could.

“There are the things we need to look at tomorrow but it was an embarrassing performance.”
