Southampton fans go home after just 20 minutes as Leicester score three and Bertrand is sent off

SOUTHAMPTON fans left St Mary’s after just 20 minutes when Leicester stormed into a 3-0 lead and Ryan Bertrand was sent off.

Saints got off to a dreadful start in torrential conditions on the south coast and some fans were not prepared to sit and watch the damp performance from their team.

Saints players were shell shocked by the Foxes’ quickfire treble
Ayoze Perez scored Leicesters third on 19 minutes

Ben Chilwell opened the scoring after just 10 minutes before Bertrand’s rash lunge on Ayoze Perez just two minutes later saw the VAR award him a red.

And the Foxes wasted no time in rubbing salt in the wound when Youri Tielemans struck the second from just inside the box on 17 minutes.

Ex-Newcastle man Perez then showed no signs injury after Bertrand’s red card challenge when he popped up with the third two minutes later.

A nice one-two with Tielemans saw the Spaniard lash it home from 15 yards and that proved to be the last straw for many of the home fans.

TV images showed huge swathes of supporters heading for the exits clearly convinced the game was beyond their side.

And although the game settled down for a while, the ‘exiteers’ were proved right when Perez struck again on 39 minutes and Jamie Vardy continued the onslaught on the stroke of half-time to make it 5-0 before the break.
