FORMER Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been confirmed as the new Tottenham boss – with some fans welcoming the arrival and others crying.
Spurs chief Daniel Levy last night sacked Argentine Mauricio Pochettino, ending his season five spell in North London.
And this morning a replacement was already finalised, as ex-Manchester United manager Mourinho, 56, fills the Tottenham hotseast.
The news of Pochs sacking left Spurs fans heartbroken – but the arrival of The Special One has them in tears.
One fan said on Twitter: “Cheers, fans are crying.”
Another said: “im crying, some players will have slept before Poch was sacked and wake up to see Mourinho is in charge.”
One added: “This is an insult to Pochettino. He deserves better.”
Spurs chairman Levy was locked in talks with the 56-year-old late last night and that was enough to seal the deal.
Mourinho will take his first training session this afternoon and will be in the dugout for the crunch clash with West Ham on Saturday.
The news Spurs boss said: I am excited to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters.
The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me.
Working with these players is what has attracted me.
Despite the shock of Poch’s sacking, a manager who failed to deliver a trophy during his reign, some Spurs fans have welcomed three-time Premier League winner Mourinho with open arms.
One said: “Serial Winner, thats all that can be said.”
Another said: “How toxic has our community become? Give him the support he needs, he’s the new boss now.”
