Tahith Chong branded ‘amazing’ and ‘real deal’ as Man Utd loanee is stand-out player for Birmingham in Bournemouth loss

TAHITH CHONG was the star of the show in Birmingham City’s 2-0 loss to Bournemouth last night.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Blues on loan from Manchester United this season, gave the club’s fans something to smile about despite their dismal defeat with his dazzling performance.

Chong has received praise from Brum fan’s for his performance against Bournemouth last night

Any time Lee Bowyer’s side looked like posing a threat, Chong was at the heart of it.

The midfielder, who made his presence felt throughout the game, was given a ranking of 8, the highest out of his team-mates by Birmingham Live.

The only reason he didn’t rank even higher was because they said his end product could have been better.

And Brum fan’s took to Twitter to rave about Chong’s terrific display.

One fan said: “Chong must be the most exciting player I’ve seen at blues for ages.”

While another said they reckon Chong will be the most impactful loanee Birminghan have had since John Toral in 2016, who went on scoop the Players’ and Supporters’ Player of the Season awards.

They wrote: “Only seen him play for 160 minutes yet I’m pretty sure Tahith Chong is gonna be the most impactful Blues loan signing since Toral 15/16.”

One Brum supporter even went as far as to suggest that Chong should be up for the Ballon d’Or alongside the likes of Lionel Messi this year.

They said: “Tahith Chong ballon d’or 2021.”

It’s the second time in the last few weeks that Chong’s put on a superb shift at his new short-term home.

He was named man of the match in Birmingham’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

Chong joined Birmingham on a season-long loan in July after spending last term at Werder Bremen and Club Brugge.

The Holland youth international helped the latter club win the Belgian title, making 10 league appearances after playing 13 games in the Bundesliga.

And the youngster’s no stranger to winning accolades as his career develops.

In 2018, he won United’s Young Player of the Year award.

He then scooped their Reserve Player of the Year award 12 months later and was named the PL2 Player of the Month in December 2019.
