Tammy Abraham ‘wants Chelsea transfer return and club can activate £68m buyback clause soon’

TAMMY ABRAHAM is reportedly eyeing a Premier League return despite being a revelation in Serie A this season.

Abraham left Chelsea for Roma in a £30m deal in the summer, with the Blues cleverly including a buyback clause into the deal.

Abraham has been in superb form for Roma, with Italian reports suggesting his is targeting a return to the Premier League

That is claimed to be around £68million, double his transfer fee, which becomes active in 2023.

And Corriere dello Sport claim Abraham wants to ‘go home one day’ in a bid to conquer the Premier League.

His 17 goals and four assists in just 30 games for Jose Mourinho’s Roma certainly suggest he is worth the near £70m his boyhood club have the option to pay.

Roma though are playing it cool over the 24-year-old’s future.

The club’s sporting director Tiago Pinto was quizzed about Abraham’s release clause and the potential for a Premier League return in less than 12 months.

But he said, via Football Italia: “It’s true, that clause does exist, but we are not worried.

“It’s only valid from 2023, but I am not concerned. I am happy because he is playing well and can get even better.”

Chelsea frontmen Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have been far from regular scorers in recent months, meaning the Blues could be tempted by a reunion with Abraham in 12 months.

Abraham joined the Blues at U8’s level and played 82 times for the club in total, scoring 30 goals and providing a further 12 assists.

He even helped them to Champions League glory last season, before deciding to call time on his Stamford Bridge career in a bid for more regular game time.

The striker also enjoyed prolific loan spells with Swansea, Aston Villa and Bristol City earlier in his career, and has won 10 caps for England to date.
