Tetchy Jurgen Klopp slams reporter for ‘wasting his time’ after questioning Liverpool boss’ team selection

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp hit out in his press conference ahead of Sunday’s showdown against Arsenal.

The tetchy Anfield manager slammed a question as a “waste of time”.

Jurgen Klopp branded a question in his press conference as a “waste of time”

The Reds drew 0-0 at Chelsea on Tuesday after Klopp rang the changes following the humbling 4-1 defeat at Manchester City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo were all dropped to the bench, while Virgil van Dijk missed out through illness and Harvey Elliott was not in the squad.

And Klopp was asked whether the changes were due to the loss against City, or rather to manage the workload of his players.

He replied to the question: “We had a game against City, which is an influence physically and performance-wise. It is both.

“How can you expect I give you an answer and say ‘two were because of that and four were because of that’.

“That is a real waste of time.”

Klopp was also quizzed on whether the tough week, which has already included a draw at Chelsea, would define Liverpool’s season.

The Reds host league leaders Arsenal on Sunday after a run of three Prem games without a win.

And Klopp said: “If we win this game, then we will have taken four points out of these games. This would be completely normal for us in the past.

“Most of the time we drew there [Stamford Bridge]. Last season, I sat at home with COVID. We started really well but it was a draw in the end. And losing to Man City was always possible.

“I understand from your point of view it’s super difficult to find new questions every week but believe me it’s even more difficult to find new answers.”

The Reds are set to be boosted on Sunday by the return of defender Van Dijk.

Thiago Alcantara and Luis Diaz are also back in training after missing extended periods through injury.
