Walcott Sing Praises for Arteta

Arsenal legend Theo Walcott has revealed that his former teammate, Mikel Arteta, gave him the best team talk he'd ever heard before becoming a manager. Walcott, who played alongside Arteta for five years at Arsenal, believes that the Spaniard was always destined for a career in management.

Arteta's Rebuild

After taking over as Arsenal's manager in 2019, Arteta faced the daunting task of rebuilding a struggling team. However, he has managed to pull together a young squad that finished second in the Premier League last season. His leadership qualities were evident even during his playing days, having captained the Gunners to an FA Cup victory.

The Inspiring Team Talk

Walcott, now 34 years old, disclosed that the greatest team talk he received was actually from Arteta. During a period when Arsenal were struggling to secure a top-four finish, Arteta called a meeting exclusively for the players and delivered a motivating speech that addressed the team's problems and provided clear direction. Following that moment, Arsenal comfortably secured a fourth-place finish. This pivotal moment made Walcott realize that Arteta was destined to become a manager and has since transformed Arsenal into a formidable force.

Arsenal's Success Under Arteta

Arteta's ability to inspire his players and build a resilient squad was evident in Arsenal's recent 1-0 victory over Everton. Prior to this win, Arsenal had failed to earn a single point against Everton away since October 2017. Walcott, who has played under legendary managers Arsene Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti, considers Arteta's achievements at Arsenal as a significant testament to his skills and leadership.

Arteta's Playing Career

Before transitioning into management, Arteta had a successful playing career in the Premier League. He spent 12 years playing for Everton and Arsenal, scoring a total of 51 goals in 359 appearances. His experience as a player has undoubtedly contributed to his understanding of the game and his ability to connect with his players.
