Thierry Henry warns Mikel Arteta I dream of managing Arsenal until the day I die

THIERRY Henry has revealed his ‘dream’ of managing his former club Arsenal despite the appointment of Mikel Arteta.

The Arsenal legend is regarded as one of the clubs greatest ever, and the return of the king back to the Emirates would be quite the sight.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry opens up on his ‘dream’ of managing his former club

The Frenchman’s hope of a third return would come this time as a manager and not a player.

The hope of managing Arsenal appears to be a distant dream, but Henry has not given up all hope of the dream becoming a reality.

Speaking to French outlet Canal Plus, he said: “I do dream of managing Arsenal but I also dream of running up the court and doing a slam dunk. It doesn’t mean it’ll happen.

“But yes, I’ll want to manage Arsenal until the day I die.”

Since his playing career came to an end, Henry spent just over two years as Belgium’s assistant manager before leaving the job to become the head coach of former club Monaco.

Henry was sacked after just 20 games, winning five, drawing four and losing eleven, with former boss Leonardo Jardim eventually replacing him.

MLS side Montreal Impact appointed Henry in November, with his only match in charge so far ending in a 2-2 draw.

The job he dreams of having is currently taken by former team-mate Mikel Arteta, who re-joined the club after spending over three years as Pep Guardiola’s understudy at Manchester City.

Arteta arrived in December after succeeding compatriot Unai Emery and has since took charge of twelve matches winning six, drawing five and losing just one.

His side are one of two teams in Europe’s top five leagues which are yet to lose a game in 2020 so far.

The other team comes as somewhat a surprise, Italian outfit Chievo who currently sit seventh in the Serie A.

Thierry Henry is Arsenal’s all-time top scorer

Arsenal are in a period of turbulent transition, and bringing in someone who knows and understands the club has helped steady the ship, and has given the fans a sense of optimism.

The Spaniard has shown faith in the likes of Eddie Nketiah who returned from a loan spell with Championship side Leeds.

Nketiah went on to score in their home win against Everton on the weekend as well as scoring in the FA Cup fourth round tie against Bournemouth.

Bukayo Saka, 18, has also been given his chance to prove himself, getting three goals and ten assists in all competitions this season.

Arteta is restoring a feel good factor at the club and watching players come through the youth system and make a real impact has been the cherry on top.

RETURN OF THE KING

Henry re-joined the Gunners in January 2012 on a two-month loan from MLS side New York Red Bulls.

The icon went on to score on his second debut for the club against Leeds in the FA Cup, but then only went on to make three more appearances before heading back to The Big Apple.

Henry made 375 appearances for the North Londoners, scoring 228, while also chipping in with 90 assists over the two spells at the club.

Having failed to make an impact in his first managerial role in France, Henry has the chance to turn it around in the MLS with Montreal, and if all goes wrong at Arsenal his ‘dream’ may become a reality.

However, for now Thierry, keep dreaming.
