Timo Werner becomes RB Leipzig’s ALL-TIME scorer with 95 goals as new Chelsea striker has fairy tale ending vs Augsburg

TIMO WERNER has achieved a fairy tale ending in Germany after becoming RB Leipzig’s ALL-TIME top goal scorer with a double against Augsburg.

The 23-year-old is playing his final Bundesliga game before sealing a £47.5million move to Chelsea this summer.

And Werner signed off his Leipzig career in style after opening the scoring against Augsburg to notch his 94th competitive goal for the club.

The German took less than 30 minutes to make history after he sprung the offside trap to round keeper Tomas Koubek and overtake Daniel Frahn’s record.

Werner, whose double made his 28 league goals for the season, was ultimately substitutes minutes before the whistle but his efforts had done enough to seal third spot for Leipzig.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side had needed to match Borussia Mochengladbach’s result to secure a top three finish with just one point separating the two teams.

And it so happens that Leipzig mirrored their rivals 2-1 result exactly to conclude the Bundesliga season behind champions Bayern Munich and runners up Borussia Dortmund.
