Timo Werner set to be able to wear his favourite shirt number at Chelsea after sealing £53m transfer from RB Leipzig

TIMO WERNER looks set to be able to wear his favourite shirt number at Chelsea after sealing his £53m Stamford Bridge switch.

The German star could snare the No11 shirt from Pedro as the Spaniard looks certain to leave West London at the end of the campaign.

Chelsea have confirmed Timo Werner will join them from RB Leipzig this summer for £53million and the No11 shirt could be up for grabs

On Thursday, the Blues confirmed that the German ace will join them from RB Leipzig this summer and he is set to become the club’s top earner.

Werner, 24, has 11 goals in 29 caps for Germany, has penned a £9million-a-year contract with the Blues, worth £170k-a-week.

The Bundesliga hotshot has been wearing the No11 for Leipzig and that appears has been touted as the likeliest choice at Chelsea, even though Pedro currently occupies the jersey.

The veteran winger is nearing the exit door and has reportedly been in talks with Roma over a two-year deal once his contract at Stamford Bridge runs out at the end of this season.

SunSport revealed the 32-year-old was making Chelsea sweat over a new deal because he is also concerned about his pal and team-mate Willian who will also become a free agent on July 1.

Willian dons the No10 shirt which could also be an option for Werner should the Brazilian fail to sign any form of extension with the West London club.

Manchester United have reportedly made contact with the 31-year-old’s agent while Tottenham and Arsenal have been heavily linked for a while.

Although the North London rivals’ budgets have been hit hard in the wake of the coronavirus crunch.

Other shirt numbers, such as No6, No14 and No16, could be up for grabs provided that Danny Drinkwater, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Kenedy respectively do not return after their loan stints.

No15 and No21 with Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta could also be on the cards, as they currently play on loan for Inter Milan and Roma respectively.

Michy Batshuayi’s No23 will free up if the Belgian striker is sold, which looks likely as he failed to make either starting XI in the Blues’ intrasquad friendly at the start of June.

It was recently revealed that Werner suffers from vertigo – and his condition is SO bad it once forced him off during an important Champions League tie, after he tried to play on wearing ear plugs.

Werner is also hated by rival Bundesliga fans who sang a popular terrace chant, “Werner is a son of a b****” following an incident against Schalke where he dived to win a penalty.

That particular ditty was sang by cops who once raided his locker, which caused outrage in his homeland.
